How do I post articles to individual pages on wordpress?

..And have them not appear on the main page.

Also, to note, not just independently using the wordpress software, but hosted through wordpress.com.

    You simply create the page via the WordPress admin. Not posts. It will not appear on the front page, and will (or should appear) under a separate pages navigation.

    You create it the same way – use page instead of post.
