You would need to get an account set up with a hosting company. then you would need to purchase a domain name as well. You can get a blog site here at yahoo, and they can get your domain name needs done as well. Once you own a a web address, you just upload your web pages to the address, and point your domain name to it…. it’s that simple, but’s not easy. If you want to do this proffessionally, you may want to go to http://www.toast.net and shop for providers.
"Publishing" a web site means nothing more than putting the files onto the site. The basic way of publishing is to use an ftp program. (The simplest one is Windows’ ftp command, although Filezilla is a lot nicer to use.)
Once you have the site ready, you need:
1. a domain
2. a webhost
3. FTP
Domain – could be your own domain or a subdomain
A Webhost is space to place your website online
FTP – any program that let’s you load your website from your computer to your web host. You can use an FTP program, or if you have Dreamweaver, you can use Dreamweaver’s FTP. You will need to program your ID and Password into your FTP.
Once that is all done, your site will be live.
Sounds more complicated than it actually is.
